# Building automation and energy meters

> PLCGateway connects HVAC and building controllers with BACnet/IP and energy meters with Modbus, for building management and ISO 50001 energy management.

Building controllers from Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Trane, Carrier and Distech speak BACnet/IP. PLCGateway discovers them, lists their objects with names and reads and writes values with priorities.

Energy meters and power analysers are usually connected with Modbus. With the HVAC and electrical symbols and the energy management module, PLCGateway shows the building, the plant and the energy flows in one system.

## Notes for commissioning

- Use Find devices to discover BACnet devices in the network.
- Select points from the object list with their names instead of typing instance numbers.
- Set a write priority that matches the building's priority concept.
- Add meters to energy management with their cost and CO2 factors.
