Haas CNC machines
PLCGateway collects data from Haas mills and lathes with Machine Data Collection (Q commands) or MTConnect and turns it into OEE and dashboards.
Haas machines report status, programs, part counts, cycle times, tool changes and spindle values through Machine Data Collection when Setting 143 is set to a TCP port. PLCGateway polls these values and also reads and writes macro variables.
Machines with the Next Generation Control also offer MTConnect. Either way, the data feeds availability, output and OEE in the production model, dashboards for the shop floor and the OPC UA server.

Notes for commissioning
- Set Setting 143 to a free TCP port, for example 5051.
- Use the part counter and the last cycle time for output and cycle time analysis.
- Exchange work order numbers with the machine through macro variables.
- Combine Haas, FANUC and MTConnect machines in one dashboard.
Questions and answers
MTConnect or Q commands?
Both work on NGC machines. Q commands give access to macro variables; MTConnect is a standard that also covers other brands.
Is anything changed on the machine?
Only Setting 143 to enable data collection. Programs are not changed.
Can I count parts automatically?
Yes. The part counter and the M30 counters are read and used by the production model for output and OEE.
